Marble Igneous Rock

Calcite dolomite limestone and marble are part of the carbonate group which is based on calcium and oxygen.

Pumice is an extrusive igneous rock. Marble forms under such conditions because the calcite forming the limestone recrystallises forming a denser rock consisting of roughly equigranular calcite crystals. While marble is a non folliated metamorphic rock. It is composed primarily of the mineral calcite caco 3 and usually contains other minerals such as clay minerals micas quartz pyrite iron oxides and graphite.

Marble is essentially a granular metamorphic rock composed chiefly of recrystallised limestone chief mineral as calcite. Marble is a metamorphic rock that forms when limestone is subjected to the heat and pressure of metamorphism. This means that they are primarily based on silicon and oxygen. An igneous rock is made by cooling of magma inside the earth crust or lava in the surface of earth.

Marble is formed by metamorphism of sedimentary rock such as limestone. Most igneous rocks are made up of minerals which are part of the silicate group. Marble is a metamorphic rock formed when limestone is exposed to high temperatures and pressures. Marble is not an igneous rock.

Commercially it includes all decorative calcium rich rocks that can be polished as well as certain serpentines verd antiques. Igneous rocks cool from molten magma and form the majority of the crust.
